If you are looking to get rid of all the junk you have lying around in your cupboards, your garage or your attic then
is a great way of exchanging your unwanted stuff for cash.
To sell stuff on Ebay you will need to register on the site and open a Sellers Account by clicking the ‘Sell’ link at the top of the page and then clicking the Create a sellers link. You will then be asked to enter your debit or credit card details. These details are only required by Ebay for verification purposes to help Ebay reduce the number of dodgy sellers.
Once you have created your account the next step is to list the items you want to sell. It is important that you write a fairly descriptive title including information about the make, style, age, condition etc. When someone looks to buy something on Ebay they will search a few keywords and therefore the more keywords you have in your title the more chance you have of attracting potential bidders to view your stuff. Also be careful to avoid spelling mistakes in your title as this could seriously reduce the number of people who view your listed items. If you are not sure of your wording do a quick search on Ebay for similar products to give yourself a better idea of the decriptions, titles and prices used by other Ebay sellers.
You will also need to decide the the length of your Ebay auction listing, this can be between 1 and 10 days and as most people use Ebay at the weekends it is better to have your auction overlap a weekend or preferably to end on a Sunday evening. You will need to add a photo of your item as this will give the buyer a better picture of the stuff you are selling. Items listed without a picture tend not to sell as well as those with one.
Next you need to enter your starting price it is normally better to start low as this will attract more bidders who may have ignored your auction had you set a higher starting price. You will also need to decide how you would like to receive your payment ie cheque, credit card, Paypal etc. You are also required to set a price for the postage and packaging of you item.
Once you have entered all this information your auction will then start and you can keep an eye on it and hopefully watch some people place bids. If you have not received any bids after a day or two then do not despair as in most cases the bidding only really starts to get interesting in the last few minutes or even seconds of an auction.
Once your auction listing has ended it is time to collect your money from the buyer and to send them the listed item. Only post your goods once you have received payment and remember to leave feedback about the buyer and encourage them to leave feedback about you.
